ABOUT STEPH

I am a dedicated operations leader and special education advocate. With over twenty years of professional experience, my journey has led me to serve as a School Board Trustee. In this role, I have been deeply committed to advocating for students, special education, and public schools.

My dedication to special education is not just professional, but deeply personal. My path into the world of special education began in 2017, following the diagnosis of my child with ADHD, expressive language impairment, and multiple learning disabilities. As a mother of three and married to a military veteran, I have faced unique challenges and experiences. My mission is clear: to ensure every child I serve receives a free appropriate public education. My advocacy is fueled by a unique blend of professional skills and personal commitment. As a mother to children with special needs and having experienced a traumatic brain injury myself, my advocacy for special education is both deeply personal and profound.

At the national level, I have represented educational interests on Capitol Hill and at the Texas Capitol. I have also trained elected officials on special education topics through entities such as the Texas Association of School Boards and the National School Boards Association. My educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas, a certificate in volunteer management, and I am certified in mergers and acquisitions. My varied experiences and personal journey make me a powerful and empathetic advocate for special education.
